Get Hired! Tips from Intel’s Talent Acquisition Recruiter

A recent study conducted by the Union of Students in Ireland revealed that over 70% of students are worried about securing a job after graduation. To help tackle this, USI and Jobbio are partnering to bring students AfterGrad: a graduate employment fair with a difference. The event will provide students with the tools they need to successfully transition into the working world. Students can network directly with companies who are exhibiting, including Intel, Bank of Ireland, and PayPal.

Jobbio sat down with Intel to find out from European Talent Acquisition Recruiter, Katie Howard, about their latest graduate opportunities and how applicants can land a role at this top tech company.

Hi Katie, thanks for joining us. USI’s recent study found that 77% of students are still looking for jobs for after graduation. Could you tell us more about the opportunities at Intel and how students can apply?

Katie: Well, Intel is currently hiring for a number of graduate roles, for instance Graduate Design Automation Engineer. I’d recommend regularly visiting our Jobbio Bio to see when new roles have been made available. Typically, Intel hires engineering, IT, and science students, but we also look for Talent to fill roles in support functions such as finance, HR, or supply chain management.

If you’re interested in applying for our roles, make sure to have a full Bio with a summary, experience, and education. Give us details so we can assess your potential for the role! After applying, you’d go through three more stages: initial screening, a first interview, and a behavioural and practical interview.

Why should Talent apply for your graduate programmes?

Katie: Intel invests in our Talent – we make sure to provide them with the necessary tools to succeed. We offer internal and external training, further education, mentorship, networking events, and volunteering opportunities.

Beyond these career benefits, we also have a relaxation area, games areas, and a sports and social club to help you achieve a good work/life balance. Something a lot of people don’t know is that we even have a fitness centre on-site that offers free group fitness classes before work, during lunch, and after work.

Thanks for sharing that with us. Is there anything else you’d like to tell the students interested in working at Intel?

Katie: We hired 1,000 Graduates in 2014/2015 from every college in Ireland – so there are plenty of opportunities here for you. We were also the Graduate Engineering Employer of the year for 2014 and 2015.

Before we wrap up, what is your top advice for Talent?

Katie: To borrow a quote from Oscar Wilde, “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken”.
