Ready for the Hustle and Bustle? Grab These Community Manager Jobs

Two very important trends to impact businesses, particularly startups, are the proliferation of social media marketing and the rise of coworking spaces. The former is now a rapidly maturing industry, with social media being adopted not just by the most innovative tech companies but even by your local kebab shop. The latter is a more recent phenomenon that is quickly gaining traction, with behemoth companies like WeWork and Huckletree leading the charge. Enter the community manager.

Community managers function either in a digital space (typically social media) or in a physical space (such as coworking offices), so ultimately one phrase is used to refer to two significantly different but equally challenging and exciting jobs. Sound a bit confusing? In this post, we’ll delve into the two distinct types of community managers and how you can land the job that is suitable for you.

Sprout Social defines a (Social Media) Community Manager as, someone who is responsible for “advocating the brand on social networks, connecting with the online community, and boosting awareness for the company”.
