Plan Your Perfect London Summer Trip

By July 17, 2016Other

Judging by the influx of people to open-air cinemas and rooftop bars, workers clocking off at 3pm on Fridays, and music festivals taking over on weekends, summer in London is now in full swing. There is no better time to visit the English capital and enjoy the sites under some sunshine or relax at the park with a cup of Pimm’s. We know it hardly takes any convincing to come to London anyway, so let’s skip straight to it. Don’t worry about the fact that it’s already July – if you haven’t already begun to plan your perfect London summer trip: we’ve got you covered! From where to stay to where to eat, here is Jobbio’s guide to vacationing in London.

.

WHERE TO STAY

Onefinestay

If you’re all about the new sharing economy and ‘handmade hospitality’, then you’re best looking for a place using onefinestay.com. The more luxurious version of Airbnb, onefinestay offers travellers a chance to stay at some of the finest apartments in London whilst their owners are away. Each location is handpicked for space, character, and comfort, so you’ll be sure to have a one-of-a-kind experience that tops even the best hotels. They’re currently running a summer promotion with 20% off to stay in London.

If your experience with onefinestay tempts you to turn your London holiday into a permanent move, the exciting company is now hiring for multiple tech roles.

.

Claridge’s

Sticking to the more luxurious end of the spectrum, another option is the Claridge’s luxury hotel in the posh and trendy Mayfair neighbourhood. Staying at Claridge’s will provide you with easy access to London’s buzzing West End, stylish shopping districts (you might still catch the summer sales), and beautiful Royal parks. If you want a luxury experience to rival all others, Claridge’s is the one for you.

WHERE TO EAT

Ottolenghi

London is home to the flagship restaurants of celebrity chefs like Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, and Heston Blumenthal, as well as some of the best food markets in the country (Maltby Street, Borough Market, Broadway Market, to name a few). In short, no matter your budget, you are sure to find some delicious places to dine in London.

It was hard to narrow down the best places to eat, but Ottolenghi is the first to make our list. With several branches and a best-selling cookbook featuring owner Yotam Ottolenghi’s signature recipes, Ottolenghi has made its mark on London’s foodie scene. What’s on the menu? Tasty and healthy Middle Eastern-style dishes. Definitely make a reservation! If you’re looking to extend your holiday, they’re also currently hiring for a Senior Chef de Partie amongst other hospitality roles.

.

Wright Brothers

With locations in the city’s most vibrant neighbourhoods (South Kensington, Borough, Soho and Spitalfields), Wright Brothers is the perfect dinner destination for tourists and locals alike. Feast on fruits de mer platters, Cornish day-boat fish, and generally some of the best seafood in London. If you head down to Wright Brothers’ South Ken location, their Mermaid Cocktail and Oyster bar is open from Tuesday to Saturday and serves an extensive cocktail menu.

WHERE TO DRINK

Brewdog

Originating in Scotland, Brewdog is now the leader of the craft beer revolution. They’re saying goodbye to boring, stuffy, industrially brewed lagers and ales, and hello to unique and rich flavours. Brewdog is all about sticking it to the establishment, so expect a young and hip crowd at their multiple venues around London.

Perfect London Summer Trip

John Salt

Angel is home to plenty of quirky restaurants, pubs, and cocktail bars. There are lots of great options to choose from for a Friday or Saturday night, but John Salt clinches our top spot. Head over there to taste some of their unique cocktails, the most popular of which include the ‘Catskill Cadillac’ (grapes crushed with basil mint, lemon juice, and vodka) or the ‘Purple Impala’ (Aba Pisco shaken with pomegranate juice).

WHERE TO GO

Tate Modern

One of London’s most iconic art galleries, Tate Modern underwent a £260 million renovation that was only revealed to the public this past June. The renovation added an iconic new building to the south of the existing gallery. Currently, they’re housing a Georgia O’Keefe exhibition, which the FT describes as a “once-in-a-generation chance to explore the great American modernist’s work”.

.

South Bank

London’s South Bank is the perfect destination for a hot (well, as hot as it gets in London) summer day. Stroll along by the Thames, choose from the many restaurants and bars along the river, or revel in the spirit of the Rio Olympics at Cabana’s pop-up Copacabana Beach (complete with eighty-five tonnes of white sand).

.
