Your New Job Checklist

By November 3, 2017Other

Let’s not beat around the bush, starting a new job can be a daunting experience. You’re leaving the familiarity of your old job and heading out into the great unknown.

To give you a little helping hand we decided to come up with the ultimate new job checklist so you don’t forget anything during your first week on the job.

Good luck!

1. Plan your route to the office

You should spend some time figuring out the quickest way to get to your new office. If you have time for a practice run, even better. This will make your first morning so much easier. Remember to aim to arrive early.

2. Lay out your outfit the night before

This is crucial. Do not leave this decision until the morning of your first day. You should know your new office’s dress code and dress accordingly. If in doubt it is always better to be overdressed than underdressed, especially on your first day. Don’t wear a brand new outfit. Instead, wear something that you know is comfortable.

3. Save your office info

It’s a good idea to put your office contact information into your phone in advance. Lot’s of offices require badges or keys to enter and you probably won’t have one on your first day. It will be much easier to call someone to let you in if you already have their phone number in your phone.

4. Collect all your documents

If you haven’t sent them over already then you should have all your important information at hand for HR. This includes your bank details, tax number, and your P45 (if you have it). Some employers may also need your passport details or drivers license. Bring all these things with you on your first day.

Do something you love the night before

Belinda Murphy Corporate Wellness Consultant recommends spending time doing the things you love in the days leading up to a stressful situation like starting a new job. This will help you to stay calm and also boost your positivity so you are better able to face the challenges ahead.

Get some sleep

It’s natural to be both nervous and excited the night before a new job but you should try to get a decent night’s sleep. There will be a lot to take in over the next few days so you will need your energy.
