6 Signs You’re the Office Grinch

By December 7, 2017For Talent

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…well, for most people.

When December rolls around at least one person in your workplace will transform from a perfectly lovely coworker into a scowling, complaining Grinch.

They might not have the big belly or the fuzzy green hair but don’t be fooled, they’re a Grinch alright. So, how do you know that it’s not you?

Here are the 6 signs you’re a total Grinch.

Secret Santa is the bane of your life

Buying presents for other people? Where is the fun in that? When someone in the office suggested that you all do Secret Santa you rolled your eyes so hard it almost hurt. You don’t agree with any forced Christmas activities which brings us to the next sign…

You don’t RSVP for the Christmas party

Or worse again, you pull a sickie on the day. You can’t stand the thought of eating a fake Christmas dinner with your colleagues or hearing your manager’s drunken rendition of ”Fairytale of New York.” You’d much rather spend the evening watching a film at home. Not a Christmas movie of course.

You won’t be spreading musical Christmas cheer

Every so often, someone in your workplace will take off their headphones and blast Christmas music for the whole building to hear. That’s your queue to go get a coffee or escape to a meeting room. You simply can’t listen to any more Wham!.

You think everyone should work right up until Christmas Eve

Well, how else are you going to get all those big January projects done on time? You don’t see why people need more than one or two days off at Christmas time. It’s a waste of annual leave in your opinion.

You can’t stand all the workplace Christmas chat

”Have you got all your presents? Are you going home over the holidays? Have you put up your decorations yet?” You’re not in the mood to talk about the season. End off!

You won’t deck the halls with boughs of holly (fa la la la la)

Everyone else might be happy to decorate their cubicles with tinsel and fairy lights but you can think of nothing worse. You will quite happily sit at your plain old desk and get your work done. No Christmas ornaments allowed. Especially not an Elf on the Shelf.
