Prince William Launches New Workplace Mental Health Platform

The Duke of Cambridge is well known for his charitable work, from addiction charities to children’s hospices. Now, it seems like he has turned his attention to workplace wellness.

Earlier this week he announced a new mental health platform with online training tools for employers and managers.

The website, which has been created alongside mental health charities Heads Together and Mind, Unilever and other partner organisations, will launch officially in September.

It will consist of a ‘Mental Health at Work’ employer gateway as well online training to equip employees and managers with tools, training and understanding of mental health.

Prince William hopes this move will create more supportive workplaces. This is clearly a matter that is very close to his heart. Speaking about the platform he stated that:

“Data from the Heads Together campaign showed that the number of people who felt they were able to talk to their HR departments about their mental health was a mere two per cent.

“For me, this is quite personal. I worked as an air ambulance pilot recently where a lot of my colleagues were dealing with a lot traumatic and stressful situations.

“But in my place of work, mental health was taken very seriously. We could be open about our experiences and support our colleagues when they needed it.

“That is what we need in every single work place in this country. I am delighted the Royal Foundation and Mind will be launching a new workplace wellbeing programme in September to support employers across the country.”

This sounds like an initiative that we can definitely get on board with.
