Have you ever read about someone in a magazine, stalked someone on LinkedIn or simply met someone in your day-to-day life and thought, how the hell did they get that job? If you answered yes then you’re going to like Grant Baldwin’s podcast.

People are naturally nosey. We want to know how someone got the biggest house on the street or stumbled into a seemingly perfect career. Baldwin uses this to his advantage and interviews some of the most interesting and bizarre professionals out there.

Each episode (there are 142 in total) focuses on a different person and their journey to date. Baldwin interviews people from all walks of life, from an NBA Mascot (episode 117) to a cartoonist (episode 101). Through listening to this podcast you’ll be introduced to entrepreneurs, designers, musicians, fitness fanatics, photographers and loads more.

It’s probably the only place where you will get to hear such a variety of voices. You can simply pick and choose as you like. If you’re not interested in starting a food truck simply skip that episode. There’s plenty more to listen to. The only downside is the lack of diversity within the episodes as there is definitely a lot more male interviewees.

Whether you’re deciding on your first career, ready to make a career shift or just in the mood for a serious dose of afternoon inspiration then you should give this podcast a listen.

Unfortunately, Baldwin is not currently producing any more episodes. However, you do have a back catalog of over one hundred episodes to get through so that should keep you occupied for at least a little while.

Here are just three of my favourite episodes:

Episode 124: How to Become a LEGO Master Builder, with Chris Steininger.

Who wouldn’t want to spend their working day playing with their favourite childhood toy?  Steininger talks us through his dream job.

Episode 102: How to Become a Professional Travel Hacker, with Brian Kelly

Learn how to travel the world on a shoestring budget. We can definitely get on board with that.

Episode 54: How to Become a TV News Anchor, with Aaron Nolan

Get ready to practice your best Ron Burgundy. Jokes aside, Nolan describes what life is really like in a newsroom behind the cameras.
