10 Good Reasons to go to the San Francisco Creator Awards

Just in case you haven’t heard, the San Francisco Creator Awards are happening on Thursday May 10th. It’s one of the biggest professional events in the world and has received constant praise since its creation. But what’s so great about it? Why does it have so much hype? The reasons are truly endless, but for the sake of this article, I’ll try come up with the top ten.

The Venue

Isn’t the Palace of Fine Arts enough reason to attend an event? I’d take any excuse to check out the interior of this historic building! The monumental structure was originally constructed in 1915 to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal. Today it remains a popular tourist attraction and an iconic part of the San Francisco Bay Area. It’s a popular spot for wedding photos, and has a famous replica in Disneyworld.

Job Fair

Jobbio are a partner of the event, and that can only mean one thing, all the best in hiring opportunities! The huge job fair that’s organised is another great reason to attend Creator. This event will feature some fantastic companies such as Lyft, CBS, Dropbox and Zendesk. Pop Up Market

The pop up market is sure to be another highlight! The vendors are an exciting and eclectic mixture of companies. Amongst the names that’ll feature are ‘Hello Vino’ the wine recommendation app, ‘People I’ve Loved’ a Californian printmaking workshop and sports retailer Decathlon.

Master Classes

Several famous entrepreneurs will be attending to give masterclasses in business related topics. The names of these talks are ‘Disruption as a Creative’ and ‘Designing a BIG Life’. The former will discuss the risks and innovation required to shape a successful businesses. Whereas the latter will explore the connection between design, lifestyle and growth.

Dusty Button

One of the members of the ‘Disruption as a Creative’ panel will be Dusty Button. She is one of the best known dancers in the world, having performed ballet at the Royal Opera House and featuring in the likes of Glamour Magazine. She has been labelled “A New Brand of Ballerina” who “defies categorisation”. Dusty will be imparting wisdom how to defy norms in your work life.

Tan France

Have you seen the Netflix reboot of Queer Eye? If so this might excite you! Fashion expert Tan France will be at the masterclasses as well. The 35 year old English designer will be revealing some secrets behind his success. Hopefully he’ll throw in some free makeovers too!

Kevin Rose

Another big name highlight of Creator is Kevin Rose. The American Internet entrepreneur co-founded Revision3, Digg, Pownce, and Milk. You might also recognise him as a co-host from TechTV’s ‘The Screen Savers’. Find out how to make your brand stand out online from his expert tips!

Awards Ceremony

It’s the part of the day you’ve all been waiting for… when winners are announced. At 8pm the award ceremony will take place on stage. Visionaries in the crowd will take turns to pitch ideas and win funding for projects. This is sure to provide a dramatic climax to a brilliant day, and goosebumps are guaranteed! Co-hosting the ceremony will be Teen Vogue editor Elaine Welteroth!

An Open Bar

Found the networking earlier a little awkward? Now’s your time to shine! Unlimited free drinks will be available at the end of the evening as things wind to a close. Get ready to see the guy who sold you his product earlier busting some dance moves as he spills every one of those drinks on his brand new suit!

SAINT VINCENT

And finally, of course, a performance from one of the most talented alternative rock musicians alive right now. Saint Vincent herself will be making an appearance, and performing for those who stick around until night time. She’ll be taking to stage alongside DJ Daddy Kat, as the last of the ‘networking’ takes place on the dancefloor. Expect to hear the singles from her instant classic 2017 album ‘Masseduction’, along with all the old favourites.
