Having a dog at work makes everything better. Annoyed after a bad sales call? Pet the dog. Reeling after a particularly stressful meeting? Go visit the pooch. Looking for someone to share your bacon sandwich with…well, you get the idea.

Unfortunately, not everyone is lucky enough to have an office hound.
Alongside their ‘Top 10 Most Pet-Friendly Workplaces Of 2018‘ list, WellPet has released a survey of their findings on pet-friendly workplaces and workers’ feelings towards furry friends in the office.
The survey found that 44% of Americans would consider a career move for a pet-friendly workplace.
But that’s not all because the people surveyed said they would even take less annual leave or potentially a pay cut.
That’s a lot of dedication to man’s best friend but they may, in fact, be onto something.
According to a study by the Human Animal Bond Research Institute, 91% of workers feel more fully engaged in a pet-friendly workplace compared to 65% of employees who work in a non-friendly workplace.
The study also noted that the camaraderie and positive relationships with both supervisors and co-workers improved as a result of office pets.
As an added bonus, a majority of workers feel a stronger connection to employers who embrace pet-friendly policies.
So, if employers want to attract more talent then maybe they should focus less on office bars and pool tables and instead turn their attention towards pets.
