By March 4, 2019For Talent

It’s International Women’s Day on Friday, 8th March. So, to celebrate we thought we would gather together some pearls of wisdom from the successful women that we have interviewed on the blog.

They all come from different industries and backgrounds but they all have great advice to share.

‘’Never give up. Go that extra mile. Step outside your comfort zone and follow your gut. Don’t be afraid to try something new.’’ Sharon Kenny, TheMatchMaker.ie

‘’That you don’t need to be one thing and have just one career. What you do in college can be one part of the puzzle and you can just keep adding skills and experiences to it. The list of possibilities is endless.’’ Lilly Higgins, food writer and TV chef

‘’Have as many conversations as you can and challenge all your assumptions. Joining a startup or starting your own business has many inherent risks so think carefully before doing it. Having said all that – fortune favours the brave!’’ Pippa Murray, Founder Pip&Nut

‘’Be confident in your own abilities. Prove to others you know what you’re doing and you’re the right person for the job. Continue to strive and don’t lose sight of what you’re capable of.’’ Rachel O’Sullivan, Zookeeper

Rachel O’Sullivan at Dublin Zoo.

‘’Put yourself first. Don’t just live in a place for your career. If you aren’t happy your work will deteriorate. Once you move to a place you are happy you will find success. Your work will show if you are happy or not. Also, make sure you put yourself out of your comfort zone. If something scares you…do it!’’ Cara Malorey-Vibert, Lego Designer

‘’If you really believe in an idea then you need to persevere. It makes a huge difference if you don’t give up.’’ Bee Sykes, Families go Global

‘’Always have a sense of playful curiosity. Try not to let things terrify you so much that you just stagnate and you don’t do something.’’ Polly Gilbert Cofounder, TAP London

Polly Gilbert and Katie Whitlock from TAP London.

‘’I think a big lesson for me was learning not to always be so nice. In a city as competitive as New York, sometimes being the nice girl can mean that you get taken advantage of from time to time! It’s important to be confident in your opinions and speak up for yourself.’’ Michaela O’Shaungnessy, Social Media Producer Teen Vogue
