The Speakers at HIGHER at Dublin Tech Summit: Day 2

HIGHER at Dublin Tech Summit is almost here! The exciting event (which takes place in the RDS on April 10th and 11th) promises to bring together the best tech talent with some of the top companies in Ireland.

In fact, more than 50 amazing brands will be attending, including Facebook, Slack, Groupon and Amazon.

However, there’s more to HIGHER than free tickets and top exhibitors, there are also a number of insightful panels and keynotes to look forward to.

Here’s a little sneak preview of the speakers for Thursday, 11th April. 

10:00 – 10:40

Cisco: “Cognitive collaboration, coffee and twenty-two other things at Cisco”

Pat Hession, Cisco Ireland Software R&D Leader, will give this insightful talk on Thursday morning. Come along to find out what cognitive collaboration, facial recognition, cyber security, video streaming and Game of Thrones have in common. Are you as curious as we are?

10:45 – 11:25

Pramerica Systems Ireland: ”Tech life on the Wild Atlantic Way”

Have you ever dreamed about ditching city life and moving to the North West? Pramerica’s talk will focus on opportunities and growth in one of the most beautiful places on the planet, Donegal. Find out more about their state of the art campus and exciting new positions during this panel discussion featuring Gerard Grant, VP of Information Systems, Mary Bradshaw, VP of Human Resources and Joe Dunleavy, VP of Innovation.

11:30 – 11:45

Ryanair: ”Ryanair labs digital transformation at 30,000ft”

Hear the inside story of how Ryanair is using technology to drive their growth. Digital Delivery Lead, Jerry O ‘Sullivan will dive into Ryanair’s lean business model and how it reflects the technology solutions they provide for their customers and people across technology hubs based in Dublin, Madrid and Wroclaw.

11:45 – 12:10

Ryanair: “Ryanair, an IT company with 455 aircraft – How to build IT labs from scratch”

Ryanair’s Head of Talent Acquisition, Mark Duffy will be giving an insightful talk that examines how Europe’s largest airline refined their IT recruitment strategy and built a brand that now employees over 500 IT professionals.  Mark will discuss the challenges of starting an IT brand from scratch and how Ryanair has expanded its labs into Spain and Poland over the last 3 years.

2:00 – 2:40

BT: “The future of the workplace”

BT has been at the forefront of workplace evolution globally, providing a network of new technologies to some of the world’s biggest and best-known brands. Joseph Walsh, Head of Unified Communications and Contact Centre will take the audience a journey through this transformation, what employers need, what employees want, and the challenges every organisation faces in the battle to balance the two.

2:45 – 3:35

Overstock: Surfing the tech wave in Silicon Sligo”

Next up we have an exciting panel discussion with the team from Overstock. They will be talking about the burgeoning tech scene along Ireland’s west coast and the benefits of working in Sligo. The panel will include Emma Pearman, Recruitment Lead, Lucia Macari, Development Manager and
Stephen O’Connor, Development Lead.

3:30 – 4:10

Asana: “Defining a new category of software and a better way to work at Asana”

In this talk, EMEA Head of Sales and Site Lead Robbie O’Connor will explain the burgeoning work management category, Asana’s unique philosophy on building a thriving culture for scale, and how the two are intertwined to produce incredible results.

4:15 – 4:45

Groupon: “Getting the job done”

In this session, Piotr Berlowski, a Principal Software Engineer at Groupon, will explore the concept of ownership in engineering and outline how it translates into both company-wide and personal career success. He will also highlight how hiring for ownership builds efficient, engaged and empowered teams.
