Here are 5 brilliant virtual Pride 2020 events happening this month

By June 22, 2020Trending

There are some AMAZING Pride 2020 events taking place.

The world has been in a real state of flux over the last few months, as a result of the outbreak of Covid-19. As a result of the pandemic, thousands of major events have been cancelled, or changed dramatically.

But the show must go on, in some capacity.

June is Pride Month, a promotion of the self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people as a social group. And while this year will be very different, the show will well and truly go on.

In celebration of Pride 2020, a number of brilliant virtual events will be taking place, from all four corners of the globe, to promote and celebrate equality, inclusion and love.

So, we wanted to share a round up with you of some of the best virtual events taking place, so that you can sign up, tune in and enjoy.

PRIDE 2020

Dublin Pride Parade 2020

This parade will be a mix of pre-recorded and live elements with hosts, Paul Ryder and Eddie McGuinness. The Virtual Parade will be led out by the Lord Mayor of Dublin and front line workers from across the city. It will include community organisations, sponsors and partners and of course LGBTI+ people, their friends and allies. Plus, Dublin Pride are encouraging people to submit footage that can be included in this virtual parade. The deadline for submissions has been extended to June 24th. The Virtual Parade will be broadcast live from 2.00pm on Sunday June 28th. You can watch through social media channels or by going to dublinpride.ie/live.

Dublin Pride Digital Festival

The Digital Dublin Pride Festival is running from June 18th to June 28th. It includes a number of brilliant virtual events, such as cocktail making classes, political debates, talks and discussions from prominent members of the LGBTQ+ community, and of course, online quizzes (naturally). For more information about all the fabulous digital events happening, head over to the Dublin Pride website now.

Global Pride 2020

On Saturday 27 June, Pride organisations from across the world will celebrate Global Pride 2020. With musical and artistic performances, speeches from activists and campaigners, and addresses by public figures, we will stream 24 hours of content that reflects and celebrates the beautiful diversity of LGBTI+ people everywhere.

Global Pride will be live-streamed and you can watch anywhere with a computer or mobile device and an internet connection. To learn more about how to sign up and take part, check out globalpride2020.org.
