Last night thousands of talented professionals descended on the Truman Brewery in East London for our annual Jobbio HIGHER event.
Over 60 companies were there to promote their brands, network with talent and hopefully find their next hire.
From innovative activations to packed out keynote speeches, the night was a roaring success. If you missed out or just want to relive it all again check out our Jobbio HIGHER best bits below.
The event kicked off with our HR Sessions. Up first we had Ruth Penfold (Onfido), Samantha Hepburn (Find a Tech Job) and Anna Roe (Airsorted) discussing digital nomads and how to attract them. The panel was moderated by Jobbio’s own Director of Content Cassie Delaney and raised lots of interesting points about trust and autonomy in the workplace.

“Digital nomad or not, you should trust the people you work with.” Preach, Anna Roe of @Airsorted #JobbioHIGHER

Our second panel was all about building a talent pool which seems to be something that a lot of talent managers are struggling with. On hand to give expert advice were Ana Harris (Houzz), Jessica Hayes (McGann Media Group), Stephen Quinn (Jobbio) and Claudia Mangeac (Paws). The biggest takeaway? Use content to your advantage.
#Content is King when it comes to building your talent pool, just make sure it’s a true reflection of who you are #inboundhiring #jobbioHIGHER pic.twitter.com/LZWOT8QY71

Finally, we had a lively and interesting panel discussion on company culture. Our experts included Aimee O’Mahoney (Jobbio), Oliver May (Streetbees), Geoff Watts (EDITED) and Vanessa Vallely OBE (We Are The City). The panellists had different opinions on where culture originates from which made for a lively talk.
“Culture is driven by the founders in an organisation, so it can be quite personal identifying what values should be at the forefront of that culture” Oliver May of @streetbees #JobbioHIGHER pic.twitter.com/BFuEY1DgsA

“Let your people lead your culture. It shouldn’t just be top down” Couldn’t agree more @WATC_girl

From 5pm onwards, the focus turned towards talent as we opened the doors to the massive queues that had formed on Brick Lane.
As the crowds swarmed around the stalls and networked with some of London’s hottest startups our two impressive keynote speakers were getting ready to take the stage.
First up we had journalist and best-selling author Dolly Alderton. Dolly gave an impressive speech about multifaceted careers to a fully packed crowd. With plenty of laughs and lots of honesty she used examples from her own life to demonstrate her points.

“Only you can gauge when it’s appropriate to work unpaid for exposure and when it’s time to be paid but I attribute a lot of the opportunities I got to my willingness to work for free in the beginning.” @dollyalderton #JobbioHIGHER

Our final keynote was Cambridge Analytica whistleblower Chris Wylie. Chris spoke passionately about privacy and how we should be harnessing technology to help humans not harm them.
