Working from home? Here are 5 things to do on your lunch break that you can’t do in the office

Working from home does have some advantages guys.

Amidst the outbreak of the Coronavirus, thousands of people have been asked by their employers to work from home, in the hopes of halting the spread of infection.

The first few days of working from home are always a bit of a novelty, you get a lie in, you don’t have to deal with a commute, and you’ll save money on lunches and the likes. However, after a few days, the novelty wears off, and people tend to get a little lonely and restless. We get it.

But, we’re here to tell you to seize the opportunity of working from home, and try to make the most of it. In particular, we’re referring to your lunch break, where you can actually get a lot done that you wouldn’t usually be able to if you were in work.

So, here are 5 things to do on your lunch break that you can’t do in the office…

Tired? Have a nap.

Lads, working from home can be draining. In fact, working in general is a tiring, so why not enjoy a little nap on your lunch break? Obviously, this isn’t something you can do (or maybe you can?) in your place of work, but if you’re at home, there’s no reason why you couldn’t treat yourself to a little lie down in the afternoon. You’ll rise refreshed, and ready to tackle your to-do list.

Meal Prep for dinner.

You know when you get in from work, after a long day and an annoying commute, and all you want is your dinner? But the issue is you actually have to make the darn thing? Well, when you work from home, you can get ahead of yourself. If you get an hour break in the middle of the day, why not get cracking on your dinner, so it will be ready for you as soon as your working day is done.

Have a shower.

For a lot of people, working from home involves springing out of bed five minutes before you’re meant to start working (we get it!). So, you probably didn’t have time to shower, and if you did, you probably didn’t have the “shampoo, condition and blow dry your hair” kind of shower. Take the hour you have for lunch, and pamper yourself, you deserve it!

Do all your washing.

This is the most practical item on this list, and we love it. Is there anything worse than coming home after work at whatever time, and having to face into doing your laundry? Literally, no. However, you can get that ball rolling while you work from home, that way it won’t build up.

Sit on the couch and watch Netflix.

If all else fails, you can take your hour break and sit on the couch and watch something on Netflix. Sure, not the most productive way to spend your lunch, but sometimes you just need to switch off and relax.

Oh, and if you are struggling to work remotely (we don’t blame you), then have a read of Jobbio’s tips on how to stay sane while working at home.
