6 Creative Startups You Need to Meet at Startup Open House

By September 15, 2017For Talent

Set your reminders, mark your calendars, and get ready to mingle because Startup Open House is fast approaching.

The fantastic Startup event will be taking place in Montréal, Toronto, and Vancouver on the 28th September and we’re so excited to be their official partner this year.

On the night, hundreds of startups all around Canada will open their doors to the public to network, meet new talent and maybe even show off a little bit (who can blame them?).

So, what are you waiting for? This is your chance to get inside some of Canada’s most exciting up-and-coming businesses and meet the entrepreneurs who set them up.

We’ve rounded up 6 creative startups that will be taking part on the night.

1.POTLOC, Montréal.

Have you always wanted a bakery on your block or maybe even a dry cleaner on your street? POTLOC is here to solve all your problems by allowing you to choose the next store you want to have in your neighbourhood. They help entrepreneurs to find the best location for their new business. To do so, they enlist the help of the people to decide what kind of businesses they would like in their area.  Pretty cool, huh?

2. Wilder&Harrier, Montréal.

Dog lovers this is the perfect company for you. Wilder&Harrier is an innovative and game-changing dog food company. They place a huge emphasis on environmental awareness and sustainability. 50% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions come from livestock farming. As a result, Wilder&Harrier have found alternative protein-based nourishments. Their foods are made up of ingredients like fruit and veg, peanuts and even crickets. They will definitely draw a huge crowd on the night.

3. Top Hat, Toronto.

Top Hat is an all-in-one solution for classroom engagement. Students are constantly distracted by their phones but with Top Hat, mobile phones and tablets can be used as teaching tools. Teachers can easily create interactive homework, fun assignments, and quizzes that students can complete online. Teachers can also gain access to thousands of educational resources prepared by experts too. We only wish we had this when we were at school.

4. TUF Candy Inc, Montréal.

This company is like something straight out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Candy Cutlery creates… yes, you guessed it, cutlery made out of sweets. They make everything from shot glasses to spoons all deliciously edible and 100% gluten free and vegan-friendly. You can find them at the Montréal event. We hope they bring samples.

5. Pop Rideshare, Vancouver.

Pop Rideshare takes the stress out of travelling. They make it easy for you to find a travel buddy going to the same destination and you can arrange to car share with just the click of a button. You can either post a trip or find a ride depending on your situation. No more boring solo trips.

6. Article, Vancouver.

If you’re a big fan of interior design then you have to visit Article at the Vancouver SOH. Set up in 2014, Article is a furniture company with a difference. They completely cut out the middle man, bringing exceptional design and quality straight from the manufacturer to the customer. Article’s team is always growing so make sure you connect with them on the night.
